Karabo Success Mokgara, professionally known as DJ Karri, is a South African Amapiano DJ, producer, and entrepreneur from Hammanskraal, Pretoria. Born on 13 March 1986, he has become one of the defining figures of the Gobela Amapiano movement, a style recognized for its airy synth textures and smooth, low-tempo groove.
DJ Karri began his journey in 2004, teaching himself to DJ using his brother’s equipment before securing professional bookings at Carousel Casino. After more than 15 years behind the decks, he transitioned into full-scale production, leveraging over two decades of industry experience to refine his signature sound.
He gained widespread recognition through viral releases such as “012 Lifestyle” and the gold-certified hit “Trigger.” His catalogue also includes popular records like “Yiyo,” “Saba Julukisa,” “Chom Yam,” and “Sanitizer.” His music has achieved massive traction on digital platforms, particularly TikTok, where related content has surpassed 100 million views.
Beyond music, DJ Karri is the founder of Braveboy Music and is widely respected for his philanthropic work. Through his foundation, he actively supports struggling artists and community members with rehabilitation initiatives and reintegration programs.
